Das jüdische Auswanderungsprojekt ‚Kibbuz Cherut‘ bei Hameln 1925–1930

This article analyses archival sources from the environment of the Zionist German Youth Movement. In the 1920s, the group „Cherut“ had prepared to found a kibbutz in British Palestine – a history still remembered by those who were involved as a successful youth movement. The explorative study upon which this contribution is based investigates the development of gender-differentiated, transnational and intergenerational networks by analysing private photographs and a selection of letters of ‚Cherut‘-members. Employing methods of image and text analysis, this contribution investigates the potential and limitations of visual und textual sources.
